Our Team: Enrolled Agents (EA), Licensed Tax Preparers (LTP), and Licensed Tax Consultants (LTC)

Our team is made up of skilled professionals, including Enrolled Agents (EA), Licensed Tax Preparers (LTP), and Licensed Tax Consultants (LTC), all of whom bring a wealth of expertise to help you navigate the complexities of tax preparation and planning.

Enrolled Agent (EA)

Enrolled Agents (EAs) are recognized as America’s Tax Experts®. They are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and possess unlimited authority to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

To become an EA, candidates must either pass a rigorous three-part exam covering individual and business tax returns, as well as IRS representation, or demonstrate relevant experience as a former IRS employee. Additionally, all EAs undergo an in-depth background check conducted by the IRS to ensure the highest level of trust and integrity.

Licensed Tax Preparers (LTP)

In Oregon, Licensed Tax Preparers (LTPs) are authorized to legally prepare personal income tax returns. To earn this credential, individuals must complete an intensive 80-hour course and pass a rigorous state board examination—known for its low pass rate and demanding preparation.

Ongoing professional development is also required. LTPs must complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education each year to maintain their license and stay current with tax laws and best practices.

While only seven states mandate licensing for tax preparers, Oregon’s standards are among the most stringent—setting LTPs apart through their commitment to education, competency, and professionalism.

Licensed Tax Consultants (LTCs)

A Licensed Tax Consultant (LTC) in Oregon is authorized to prepare personal income tax returns and provide expert tax advice. To become an LTC, individuals must first gain experience as a Licensed Tax Preparer (LTP), accumulating at least 1,100 hours of hands-on tax preparation over a 2- to 5-year period. They must then pass the rigorous Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners’ LTC exam with a score of 75% or higher to demonstrate their proficiency in tax laws and practices.

LTCs are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education each year, including 2 hours specifically focused on ethics, ensuring they remain knowledgeable and compliant with current tax regulations.

In addition to their expertise in tax preparation, LTCs have the authority to supervise LTPs and represent clients before the Oregon Department of Revenue, offering a higher level of service and advocacy.
